Fiber madness

Well I see it has been quite a while since I posted here.  Been doing a little of this and a little of that.  I usually have at least one spinning class a month and in April it was two which might account for why I haven't been in here to blog.  Actually, I just got way to busy.  I did two fiber prep classes this month.  The first one dealt with skirt, washing and prepping raw fleece.  The second one dealt with further preparation of the fleece, blending and preparing the fleece for a specific purpose.  When I first start spinning I had no interest what so ever in washing and prepping my own fleece.  I figured I could get it finished already and then I could spin it, but then I started finding more and more fibers I liked and I wanted to see how they were blended.  So that led to me buying some hand cards to blend the fibers.  That was cool, but way to slow for me so I got a drum carder.  Now that was the ticket.  I could card up a few ounces at a time instead of it taking me hours to get done.  Then I discovered roving and top.  I really liked the top, but not the price and figured I could do that, but not with the tools I had so that meant looking for some combs and then a hackle to blend colors and fibers.  Can you see the progression?  LOL  So could my husband.  Once I had all the tools I had to get some fleece, which turned into 150 lbs. in no time.  Which then meant I needed a picker, right!  Ok so now I have all the tools of the trade and plenty of fleece and I am having a grand old time washing, picking, combing, carding and spinning.  So it was only natural that I would want to teach others about this great hobby that takes over your house.  Hehehe!  After all, it is much more fun to play in fiber with others.  Hope you are all enjoying your time in the fiber too.
